Content management systems come in many flavors, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Using York University’s “Future Students” website as a model, this presentation will outline the advantages of managing a web site using Drupal, an open-source CMS. Included in the discussion will be consideration of core installation features; extending features through modules and what the “must have” modules are; content management best practices; incorporating scripts, forms and Flash; security issues; addressing accessibility; and user roles, permissions and management.
